They work, pay taxes, and contribute billions of dollars to state revenue every year, yet many are subject to exorbitant bail, arbitrary and prolonged detention, or even deportation as a result of trivial interactions with local law enforcement. The North Star Act would do better by our immigrant communities, and end the unnecessary collaboration between law and immigration enforcement in Minnesota. Jewish Community Action Freedom Seder: We’re still editing our photos but we just couldn’t wait to share some with you!! ๐Ÿงก It was beyond powerful to see our community of local Jews, Muslims, Christians, partners and allies unite on Sunday in the name of racial and economic justice in Minnesota. We continue to call one another into liberation, to do everything in our power to protect immigrant communities and pass the North Star Act, to expand our democracy and establish the Minnesota Voting Rights Act. We find each other to build and maintain affordable housing across our state and to stop income discrimination against our neighbors, and we gather to eliminate bias with community-based anti-hate initiatives. We make these demands even and especially when it feels difficult, because we know our safety is bound within all these issues, and because we know that our liberation is within all their resolutions.
