When a community comes together, builds power, and persistently pursues solutions, great achievements can be attained. Jewish Community Action came together with many organizations, elected officials, and others to form the Stops for Us Coalition to organize and advocate for adding the three missing stations to the Central Corridor Light Rail line. After many years of testifying, lobbying, educating, and applying pressure, the Met Council finally approved the addition of these stops. This achievement was so important that the U.S. Secretary of Transportation came to St. Paul and recognized the work of this coalition, and the coalition later received an award from the Environmental Protection Agency. As the executive director of JCA, I had the privilege of being part of this powerful coalition that accomplished this momentous victory. This video from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation tells part of this important story.
