A Rosh Hashanah Message from Carin Mrotz

As we’ve done for more than 5,000 years, our community prepares to welcome a new year: with the call of the Shofar. Rosh Hashanah marks the beginning of the Days of Awe - a season of reflection, renewal, and hope.

Our tradition teaches us that one of the most important duties we have during this period is the act of reconciliation.

We’re called to seek each other out and make amends for those moments when we may not have lived up to our values as well as we should have. And just as important, it’s a time for us to ask for the strength to do better - to live our values as truly and completely as we can.

It’s in that spirit that we invite you to join us in 5780 as we live our Jewish values through our work for justice.

Register to volunteer with us on a deep canvass and work to eliminate unjust policies that target renters, disproportionately from communities of color.

Join one of our city-based housing justice teams and work with your neighbors to protect housing as a human right.

Or join us in our newest campaign, a project to identify, combat, and dismantle antisemitism and white nationalism, working in our community and with our partners, in solidarity.

Or renew your JCA membership with a monthly, recurring gift.

As we begin the new year together, and we hear the call of the Shofar, we hope you'll be called to join us in this important work.

Shana Tovah.
