The Black Lives Matter movement is the current day Civil Rights movement in this country.
That's why we joined 600+ other Jewish groups to launch this New York Times ad saying unequivocally: Black Lives Matter.
Along with our cosigners, we represent a majority of American Jews. By supporting this movement, we can build a country that fulfills the promise of freedom, unity, and safety for all of us, no exceptions. Our message of solidarity is being shared at a critical moment. This week, Kenosha police shot Jacob Blake seven times in the back but enabled a white 17-year-old with an AK-47 to allegedly murder two protesters. A deep lack of trust in law enforcement escalated a tragic situation in downtown Minneapolis into unrest and lockdowns.
We are proud to support this movement, and our Jewish community must continue to rise up for Black lives, including Black Jews, with all of our spiritual, political and intellectual resources.
